Biography
Henryk Kalisz obtained his PhD in Biochemistry at Manchester University and has published over 60 papers in reputed scientific journals. He has over 30 years of experience in industrial enzymology and biotechnology, including as Head of Biochemistry at Pharmacia Italy (Nerviano) and as Chief Scientific Officer at Eucodis Bioscience in Vienna, Austria. Since October 2011 he has been applying his expertise in industrial enzymology as a consultant and independent representative to provide scientific and technological advice and assistance to various Biotechnology and Pharmaceuticals organizations.
Research Interest
Enzymes4Biotech provides scientific and technological advice and assistance to Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical organizations involved in contract manufacturing, research, development and commercialization of biotechnology processes and products. Its focus is on the development and commercialization of high-performance biocatalysts, enzymes and proteins, bioprocessing, biotransformations, bioremediation. This includes the optimisation of processes such as downstream and upstream processing, quality control, quality assurance, quality management, documentation for the production of technical and therapeutic proteins, including monoclonal antibodies, according to ISO and GMP standards and in compliance with regulatory requirements. It has profound experience in identifying, generating and bringing specialised biocatalytic products to the market through engineering/ directed evolution. Enzymes4Biotech offers the following services: • Implementation of biocatalytic processes for the development of bio-based products. • Identification and application of biocatalytic processes for intermediate and API synthesis. • Business development, including screening of potential customers, contract negotiations. • Establishment of R&D and manufacturing facilities for industrial enzyme production. • Optimisation of protein production processes. • Recommendation of novel technologies, protocols and products. • Commercialisation and technical evaluation of project portfolios. • Project/ technology transfer, including market and FTO research. • Implementation of quality management systems.
